A part-time Fayetteville-Manlius school bus driver has now been suspended from his job and is banned from school property after his arrest on rape charges.
The district superintendent says they will follow the criminal case closely as they decide the final employment fate of 48 year old Frank Taylor of Manlius. He had been employed as a part-time driver for the district for 13 years.
Doctor Corliss Kiser says all district bus drivers are vetted before they are hired and undergo rigorous background checks, and even frequent drug testing.
Taylor was arrested at the Carriage House Apartments in the village after police discovered a 17 year old runaway from the Southern Tier inside his apartment. Police say the victim had been raped. Taylor initially denied anyone was in his apartment when police knocked on his door, but the police spotted the victim in his apartment.
Taylor is also a corrections officer with Onondaga County. He's been charged with Third Degree rape and he's being held on 15 thousand dollars bail.
