A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Central New York today.
The National Weather Service says heavy rain will move in from the west today and some spots could see heavy downpours that could flood local roads and send some streams over thier banks.
That rain could also come in the middle of some gusty thunderstorms that could crop up as the day progresses.
Last night the weather service issued a tornado warning for Cayuga and Cortland counties when they spotted rotation in a storm, but no tornado was reported on the ground anywhere.
Forecasters says once we get through the wet and stormy weather today, the Fourth of July weekend should turn out much improved with cooler, dryer weather and Friday and temperatures in the 70's through the weekend.
