Friends and acquaintances in the Elmwood neighborhood will lay beating victim Jim Gifford to rest today.
Gifford's funeral will be held at 1pm at Elmwood Presbyterian Church on South Avenue, where he was actively involved. He died Wednesday, just four days after he was attacked leaving the 7-11 store on South Ave. and Valley Drive. Romeo Williams was arrested for the attack, and a grand jury is considering homicide charges against him.
Organizers say a memorial fund was created by the church that will be used for a church or community project in his honor. Donations can be sent to the Jim Gifford Fund in care of Elmwood Presbyterian Church, 1640 South Avenue, Syracuse, 13207.
