Homeless Woman Arrested For Stealing Gifts

Onondaga County Sheriff Deputies report that a Sheriff’s Deputy arrested a woman yesterday afternoon for stealing Christmas gifts in the Town of Camillus.

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:30pm, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Police Department Deputy Laura Collins received a complaint that a woman driving a U-Haul truck had stolen a UPS package from the front porch of a residence on Cogswell Ave in the Town of Geddes.

Deputy Collins located and stopped the UHaul truck on Milton Ave and Horan Rd in the Town of Camillus.  Deputy Collins observed that the U-Haul truck contained approximately $800.00 worth of stolen packages that was taken from the front porch of residence in the Towns of Camillus and Geddes, as well as the Village of Solvay.

Deputy Collins arrested the driver, 28 year old Patricia Morris-Girardin of Syracuse, and learned that the items stolen were deliveries from UPS and FedEx, many of which were Christmas gifts.

Deputy Collins charged Morris-Girardin for the misdemeanors of Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument.

Anyone living in the Town of Camillus, the Town of Geddes, or the Village of Solvay that believe they were victims of similar thefts is asked to call the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office at 435-2111.
