Syracuse Police say they have arrested an employee of Golisano's Children's Hospital who is accused of having sexual contact with a 16 year old patient at the hospital.
The investigation revealed that between October 23rd and November 6th, 24 year old Joseph Carelli of Marcellus had sexual contact with the victim.
As soon as the suspect was indentified, the victim was interviewed by police and the administration was notified of the allegations and Carelli was immediately suspended from his job to ensure that he had no contact with any other patients.
The investigation reveals that no force was used by the suspect to commit the sex crimes. He's being charged based on the age of the victim and the fact that he was acting in his capacity as a health care worker when he allegedly committed the acts.
Carelli was arraigned this morning in city court and has been charged with four counts of a Criminal Sex Act in the Third Degree and Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree.
