Onondaga County Sheriffs Deputies have arrested a Liverpool man for a sexual abuse case that dates back 11 years, and the was made after the suspect submitted a DNA sample recently in connection with another arrest.
The Abused Persons Unit arrested 37 year old Michael Fisher of Liverpool and charged him with one count of rape and one count of a criminal sexual act. He's accused of engaing in sexual activity with a 12 year old girl back in 2002.
In 2002, the victim told detectives that she had been sexually assaulted by a man she had befriended. She reported that on three separate occassions, she engaged in sexual activity with a man she only knew by his first name. Unable to develop any further information, detectives only relied on physical evidence they secured.
Last year though, Fisher was arrested in Oswego County and was required to submit a DNA sample. Sheriff's Deputies in Onondaga County were alerted of a DNA match and as a result were able to identify Fisher as the alleged suspect in the case.
Fisher was arraigned in Town of Cicero Court and is being held in the Justice Center on 50,000 dollars bail.
