Meals on Wheels Syracuse says they work every day to feed the 1 in 20 seniors who are at risk for hunger.
The group's executive director Mason Kaufman says seniors who don't eat regularly suffer a higher incidence of diabetes and heart-related problems. Kaufman says their volunteers not only provide home-bound seniors nutritious food, but are often the only in-person contact they will have each day.
He says Meals on Wheels continues to need volunteers to help package meals as well as drivers to deliver those meals. To help, visit meals.org or call them at 478-5948.
