Report: Auburn Union Leader Committed Suicide

Former Auburn Teacher's Association president Sally Jo Widmer, who union officials say misappropriated over $800,000 in union money for her own purposes, took her own life with a combination of alcohol and powerful drugs.

The Post-Standard is reporting that the Yates County coroner confirmed Widmer's death was suicide, just two days before her 64th birthday. Current union president Cheryl Miskill says she had suspicions about the union's finances, but didn't have any proof. It was only after Widmer's death that the missing money was discovered.
