Salina's Lockheed Martin Wins $207M Contract

Salina's Lockheed Martin learned it has won an almost $207 million contract from the US Army to build mobile radar systems to track incoming rocket, mortar and artillery fire.

According to Army authorities, the contract is a modification of an order last year for its Firefinder radars. This modification calls for an additional 19 systems and spare parts, bringing the total contract value to $605 million. While the changes won't mean Lockheed will be adding any new jobs, a spokesman said it would help to keep Lockheed's 1,900 person workforce on the job.
