Schumer, Maffei To Cut Pay During Gov't Shutdown

Senator Chuck Schumer and Representative Dan Maffei are among a growing list of Congressional members who have forgone their pay during the federal government shutdown.

Both Schumer and Maffei have staff members in Washington as well as local offices in Syracuse who will be taking unpaid furloughs. Maffei is also a co-sponsor of a Democratic bill called "No Budget, No Pay Act" which withholds pay from Congressional members each year a budget or appropriations bill is not passed.
