Upstate Hospital Has Device With Patient Info Stolen

Upstate University Hospital says it has notified nearly 300 patients that a portable device containing personal medical information was stolen from the hospital March 30 or 31.

Hospital spokesman Daryl Geddes says the information may contain patient names, dates of birth, hospital medical record numbers, dates of care, diagnosis, test readings, and physician names. There were no social security numbers, insurance info, addresses or other ID-type information. Geddes says there's no indication the information was found, viewed or misused in any way. He says law enforcement has been notified and they are working to locate the device.
